BCAB Coach Award Training and Assessment

Come and join us on the new Coach Award training course. This course provides an excellent progression for you as a paddlesport coach, developing your ability and understanding and progress your coaching, whatever your discipline.  At the end of the course, you will have a personal coaching action plan and a clear understanding of the skills required to be a British Canoeing Coach.

The Coach Award aims to create discipline specific pathways across all disciplines and are designed for people whose core function is to coach paddlers who want to gain/improve paddlesport skills. This will include coaching beginners new to the sport, or paddlers looking to develop their skills in the given discipline/environment. 

Benefits of the Coach Award include:

• Direct entry options to training available - a British Canoeing membership is the only prerequisite of the Core Coach Training
• Specific pathways across all disciplines
• Supportive eLearning resources to aid learning

Qualification Pathway
To achieve a Coach Award, coaches complete two components of face-to-face training (‘Core Coach Training’ and ‘Discipline Specific Training’) and will need to engage in active, independent learning to develop their coaching out in the field. This is concluded by a 1-day discipline specific assessment.
